Professor Michael Jenkinson

Clinical Lead Cheshire & Merseyside

Professor Michael Jenkinson is Clinical Lead for the North West Neurosurgery Network and Consultant Neurosurgeon at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust. He holds the Sir John Fisher / Royal College of Surgeons of England Chair of Surgical Trials at the University of Liverpool. He qualified from the University of Liverpool and trained at The Walton Centre, later completing a PhD in neuroscience. 

Michael sub-specialises in neurosurgical oncology, including awake craniotomy and advanced approaches to brain tumours. Professor Jenkinson leads a broad research portfolio and he has been recognised internationally, receiving the prestigious Vilhelm Magnus Medal in 2025 for his contributions to neurosurgery and clinical trials research.
